BEFORE

STARTING UP
If your computer has 4Mbytes of RAM make sure that "Me And My World" will have as much RAM memory available as possible.

If you have experience editing your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, you can comment out all lines that load drivers and programs that are not strictly necessary for the system to run. Specifically, comment out the line SHARE.EXE (if exists) and any lines that load network drivers. Consult your DOS manual for more information.

You should also have the VIRTUAL MEMORY enabled in Windows 3.1. To operate this feature double click on the "386 Enhanced" icon in the Control Panel, and select "Virtual Memory" button. Make sure that the virtual memory size is at least 6Mbytes.

Me and My World setup program installs three fonts (called "Tom") onto your system, which are not True Type. In order to make the fonts available please make sure that the option "Show Only TrueType Fonts in Applications" is not checked in the "TrueType..." option in the Fonts dialog box of the Control Panel.

OPENING SCREEN

View the opening of "Me and My World," in which the title's main character, Timmy, is introduced. During the course of this introductory portion, you may view the entire introduction, or click the mouse to skip the introduction and continue to Timmy's Room.

TIMMY'S ROOM

Timmy's room is the screen immediately following the opening. From here, by clicking on various items, you can reach any part of the CD-ROM.

In this room, you'll see Timmy sitting at a table. On the table are a slide projector, the MAGIC PICTURE DIARY, a remote control, and some crayons. Behind Timmy (to your left) is a bookshelf with several books on it, including a red ABC book. To receive an explanation relating to any of these items, click on Timmy.

The slide projector cannot be used in this portion of the CD-ROM. However, if you click on it, you'll receive an explanation saying exactly when it can be used.

By clicking on the MAGIC PICTURE DIARY, you'll be taken directly to the first page of the diary.

By clicking on the remote control slider in this screen, you can set the volume level for the entire program.

By clicking on the red button on the remote control in this screen, you'll be introduced to all the people that created this program.
By clicking on the crayons, you'll be able to see all the words you learned the last time the CD-ROM was played. To do so, you'll have to select the file which you saved last time you played the CD-ROM. After the file is loaded, the words that were learned last time will be highlighted in the small glossary.

By clicking on the red ABC book, you'll be taken directly to the big Glossary, in which all the words introduced in the CD-OM are found.

To access the Help mode, click on Timmy .You will hear an explanationfon all the items on this screen. If you don't want to hear the whole explanation just click.

MAGIC PICTURE DIARY

Once inside the MAGIC PICTURE DIARY, all you need to do is click with your camera cursor on any one of the pictures displayed in order to be taken there.

To turn to a new page, click on the bottom edge of the diary (to your right).

Once inside a picture from the MAGIC PICTURE DIARY, you can click on any object that you desire. The name of the object will appear above the picture; it will also be pronounced. If you want to hear the word again, simply click on the word or on the picture of the object. Here's a clue: if you want to know beforehand what all the objects are in any given picture, click on the title (at the bottom of the picture) and a small Glossary containing all the objects and their words will be displayed. However, we suggest trying to discover all the objects by yourself, at first. Remember, not everything shown in the picture is found in the small or big Glossaries. When you click on something like this, you will get an "X" mark.

If you want to see all the objects and words that are in the entire diary, click on the red ABC tag in the upper right-hand corner of the picture.

After having found all the objects in a given picture, you'll be ready to play the Slide Show Game. To do so, click on the icon of the slide projector in the bottom right-hand corner of the picture.

letter "N,"simply click on the letter "N" over in the margins of the glossary. To see more words that begin with the same letter, click on the Down arrow; to go backward, click on the Up arrow .

When you find the word you want, just click on it and you'll hear that word pronounced. If you want to go to the picture that the word comes from, click on the icon next to it and you'll be taken to the
right place. The words that have Timmys' icon are part of the Timmys' World two -soon to be released !!!

To access the Help mode, click on the picture of Timmy in the bottom left-hand corner of the picture. The Help mode functions in exactly the same way as in other areas of the CD-ROM.

THE SLIDE SHOW GAME

The game will start on its own. Nine pictures from the photograph you were previously in will appear on the wall of Timmy's room, along with three words. You will hear one of the three words pronounced. Then click on the correct word and hold down the mouse as you drag the white line to match the word to the correct picture. You have two chances to identify the right word/object combination. Afterward, three new words will appear. Continue in this fashion until the picture hidden underneath is revealed. When this occurs,
a secret animation will start up on its own and play. This animation will appear only if you've correctly matched all the words and objects. When it's done, you'll automatically return to the picture you were previously in.

If you click on the red button on the side of the slide projector at any time, a new game will start, with all new pictures and words.

If you unplug the slide projector, you will return to the picture you were previously in.

By clicking on the MAGIC PICTURE DIARY on the bookshelf, you'll return to the diary. From here, you can choose a new picture to explore.
